Project
Overview

Mixing motion and text using video animation created in Adobe After Effects. The goal was to create a 20 - 25 second motion graphic kinetic typography of a song of our choice. I chose the song, Tick Tick Boom, by The Hives.

Process
Research & Storyboards

By researching other kinetic typography motion videos on YouTube, I observed various aspects of each videos such as type of animations used, did videos have illustrations or type focused, colour and transitions. From there I chose Tick Tick Boom from The Hives. I chose this song as I am a big rock listener and for this assignment I thought the beat and tempo would work well for this project. Reviewing the lyrics, I had some ideas cross my mind that I could use and starting the storyboarding process.

Process
Style Frames

Once the storyboards were created, I used Adobe Illustrator to digitalize my scenes. Using white, black and yellow colour scheme throughout stayed true to the bands branding colour. Creating style frames helped to have a visual representation of how the final animation would look like before animating in After Effects.
